Considering it was written in 1880"s, a nice read.
Hope was not fulfilled. I'm a long time fly-fisher. This book was a bit outdated to be useful in skill upgrade. And it is not worthy of being a "classic"..

Enjoyed the historical nature of this short essay on fly fishing in London. Interesting that the intention was to kill the fish with admiration.
a must read for any fishermen. The book is very well written.This is a book you.can not put down once you start reading you won't want to stop.
Very out of date and old style fishing language. Good stuff in its on right, and very much about the art and value of fly fishing, but not really up to date as far as "how to".
Book will take a prospective angler from the beginning to the stream to fish. Will discuss flies and fishing and all inbetween. Read it to get some tidbits for a great past time and fun time for your kids and grandkids. Easy to read.
